One You Can Expect From An Luxury Safari Vacation – Safari Tips

Luxury Safari

Most people never have the opportunity to experience an authentic African safari and for most people who do have the chance it is usually a once in a lifetime experience. When most people think about going on adventure safaris they expect that they will be roughing it in the wild. But, the option of a luxury safari is becoming more and more popular for those who can afford it.

A luxurious African safari can really only be described as the ultimate vacation. When taking the luxury version of African safari travel you really have the opportunity to get the best of both worlds. You will be able to get out into the wilds of Africa to observe the animals that you will only be able to see live through wildlife safaris, but rather than roughing it, you will be pampered and catered to throughout your journey.

There are more and more African safari travel companies nowadays that are providing upscale versions of the more traditional safari experience. These luxury safari packages are designed to cater to the more demanding expectations of well-to-do customers. These travel safari guide operations leverage their considerable knowledge and experience with the local, ready to make sure their guests are well cared for and even pampered.

Any company that offers their customers the option of experiencing a luxurious African safari will diligently strive to assure that they provide safari holidays that will leave indelible and everlasting memories of the wild and amazing animals, landscape and people of the African continent. These safari tour operators know that their customers have very high expectations and they go out of their way to make sure that they deliver.

One of the many options in luxurious safari vacations in the horseback safari adventure. This venturesome vacation allows people to have an even better view of the wilds of the area that is being explored during the excursion.

Riding on horseback provides better access to areas that are too difficult to access by foot. At the same time, the wildlife are not as likely to be frightened off by the sounds of a vehicles rambling along the dusty, dirt roads. And, being on horseback provides a better vantage point for seeing the breathtaking scenery than what can be seen either sitting in a vehicle or on foot.

This elevated vantage point also comes in handy for taking better pictures. With well-trained safari guides at your side at all times, you will not have to worry if you are not a skilled horseman, nor about wandering unwittingly into areas that could be dangerous. The guides are constantly on the lookout for any precarious situations that might develop and they will immediately lead their guests to safety if the need arises.

At the conclusion of an intense day of safari exploits on horseback, the safari guide will lead the group to where the camp has been relocated by the camp staff during the course of the day. The luxury safari guests will be met by a delicious gourmet meal, which they can enjoy while listening to the gentle sounds of the African night.

Drink From King Henry VIII’s Wine Fountain

hampton court palaceHenry VIII was a royal who did things a bit differently than everyone else and when it came to luxury the man knew how to live. The Hampton Court Palace has revived one of his royal pleasures, creating a Tudor wine fountain on the spot where his octagonal fountain stood in Base Court. The palace caretakers discovered the remains of a Tudor conduit or fountain during a major archaeological dig in 2008 and created the fountain based on the wine fountain shown in the Field of the Cloth of Gold painting which hangs in the Young Henry exhibition at Hampton Court Palace. The fountain flows with water every day but has been engineered, like Henry’s own wine fountains, to serve real wine on the weekends.

The fountain features 40 gilded lions’ heads based on those in the terracotta roundels that decorate the walls of the palace. The eight brass taps were designed based on a surviving Tudor tap found at the palace. The fountain bears a motto “faicte bonne chere quy vouldra” or “let he who wyshes make good cheere” in gilded lead letters based on those in the Chapel Royal at Hampton Court Palace. Each glass costs £3.50 in addition to the palace admission price.

Union Jack Jewelry Collection from Viscount David Linley

union jack linley
The latest design from bespoke cabinetmaker (and nephew of the Queen of England) Viscount David Linley is a line of elegant accessories featuring an inlaid Union Jack motif. Consisting of a humidor, jewelry box, tea caddy, cufflink box, and large and small picture frames, the exquisite and extremely British pieces pieces are finished in walnut with the flag artfully rendered in a marquetry of burr oak, burr walnut and ripple sycamore. Like Linley himself, the Union Jack boasts a royal lineage; the flag originated in 1606 after King James I of England was crowned, uniting the kingdoms of England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland. The humidor, for about $2,000, is lined with Spanish cedar wood and has a built-in humidifier and hydrometer to preserve cigars. The jewelry box, for about $1,800, is lockable and lined in red faux suede with a compartmentalized, removable tray. The tea caddy, for about $1,000, is available in a limited edition of 25 pieces, and comes complete with a supply of Fortnum & Mason Royal Blend loose leaf tea. The cufflink box, for about $650, is lined in beige faux suede. The picture frames come in a large and small size for about $440 and $400.

Blogging From The American Express Publishing Luxury Summit: Tony Hsieh on Delivering Happiness

Monday’s American Express Publishing Luxury Summit panel sessions began with a swell of music and slides with buzzwords like provenance and human interaction— the message again, echoing last night’s talk was that luxury is “back” but in a new slightly refined way.

“Innovation isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity” said Ed Kelly, the President and Chief Executive Officer of American Express Publishing and as if to show proof of this the Luxury Summit offers attendees the use of an iPod Touch. The Touch has a designated Luxury Summit app. The app allows people to vote on polls, ask questions of the speakers in real time and generally navigate the Summit. It’s a neat idea and a real sign that luxury is dragging itself into tech, ready or not.

Up first on the presentation schedule was Tony Hsieh, the president of Zappos and author of the new book “Delivering Happiness.” Zappos was bought by Amazon last year in a deal closed in December. Instead of blending Zappos into Amazon (what usually happens to the brands Amazon gobbles up), Zappos continues to run independently and define its own unique corporate culture which is part of the subject of Hsieh’s book. One of the reasons that Zappos has had such rapid growth is that it does things a little differently than some other online purveyors. The core of Zappos remains the call center and the quality of the customer interaction is the yardstick by how Zappos measures success.
