MTV’s Real World Heads Back To Las Vegas

MTV’s “The Real World” is turning 25 and the latest season takes the usual unruly batch of seven strangers back to Las Vegas. The show was last in Vegas for the 2002-2003 season which lead to the creation of the Real World Suite at the Palms, a room that is still available and popular with guests. This time the filming was done at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. A high roller’s suite in the hotel was turned into a four-bedroom party loft.

Filming started back in October and wrapped up in January. The season has its premiere on March 9. The roommates range in age from 21 to 25 and come from around the country. Their four-bedroom suite has views of the pool area and a hot tub, bowling alley, pool table and bar. As with most seasons of the reality television show, the roommates had an assignment. This time they participated in an internship program with the Hard Rock’s marketing department and worked with a local charity called Make Music Matter that benefits school music departments. But mostly it’s about the partying and the drama that are the hallmarks of each season.
The news comes as the Hard Rock faces the potential of foreclosure. TheLas Vegas Sun reports that NorthStar Realty Finance Corp. has plans to foreclose on Feburary 7. In response, the owners of the Las Vegas Hard Rock sued NorthStar saying that a foreclosure on five business days’ notice was neither commercially reasonable nor viable because the sale of a hotel-casino would require the prior approval of the Nevada Gaming Commission. The reason for the urgency is that on February 9 a $1.25 billion debt comes due and the Hard Rock has not yet disclosed plans on how it plans to deal with that, meaning NorthStar could lose the $96.2 million it loaned the resort. Last year the Hard Rock completed a $750 million expansion which included the addition of SKYBAR, Reliquary Spa and a luxury suite tower. NorthStar has said it plans to have contract operator Navegante to run the gaming and hotel at the Hard Rock and is already marketing the property to potential buyers.
Like other properties, the Hard Rock has struggled as tourism diminished. When it opened in the mid-1990s, the Hard Rock Hotel was one of the few spots on the Strip catering to hard-partying youngsters. Now it’s just one in a sea of potential options for hip debauchery.

Tom Cruise Dangles From World’s Tallest Building In Movie Stunt

Tom Cruise is in Dubai filming for Mission Impossible 4 and it looks like the movie will feature one of Cruise’s most daring stunts. Cruise was spotted dangling from the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which stands 2,717 feet tall. The scene was filmed at the Observation Deck level which is 124 floors high, about two thirds of the way up the skyscraper. A helicopter was aside the building filming the daring feat.

Cruise was also joined by co-stars Jeremy Renner and Paula Patton at the newly opened Armani hotel for a press conference for Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Over the weekend he was spotted hitting the slopes at Ski Dubai, the world’s largest indoor ski area. Rumors about where else Cruise will land continue to swirl. Other potential spots could include the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab and the new Meydan racetrack complex.
Filming for the movie has taken Cruise and crew around the world. Scenes were previously shot in Prague and after Dubai production will move to Vancouver for three months.

Recent Crazy Night For Charlie Sheen Leads To Lost Patek Philippe Watch

Charlie Sheen discovered his Patek Philippe watch was missing and tore apart his hotel room at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. A known watch collector with millions of dollars worth of watches, Charlie Sheen was lividly trying to locate his hard-to-get Patek Philippe Ref. 5970 watch. Collectors love the classic high-end Patek with a chronograph, perpetual calendar, and moon phase indicator. It is worth well over $100,000.
The media calls it a “Sheen Meltdown,” but he was really just looking for his timepiece that went missing on October 28th. The story goes deeper, though. Sheen blamed his “date” that night Capri Anderson for taking the watch. The two apparently met earlier in the night and ended up back at Sheen’s hotel room where things got a bit out of control. Drugs and alcohol are obviously implicated – and Capri is said to have quickly become afraid of the 45 year old actor before locking herself into a bathroom. Forget the girl, at this point Charlie couldn’t find the watch. Later taken to a hospital, Sheen’s Patek was still on the loose. Does the porn star have it? The bell hop? Someone else? Sources are unclear about the events that led Anderson to Sheen’s hotel room, and there have been suggestions that he was back to his old ways of paying for sex. Let’s just hope that Sheen didn’t inadvertently hock the watch at a pawn shop to pay for Capri’s “fee.”

Despite the media fiasco, I just feel bad for Charlie. When you are a watch lover, and have a timepiece that rare, you’d scour the earth to get it back if lost.

Scott Disick defends Kim Kardashian at club

KourtneyKim Kardashian take New York  is already heating up in its first week of filming. At Juliet Supper Club on West 21st Street the other night, Kim was confronted by a rowdy guest who wouldn’t leave her alone. The man’s jealous girlfriend got involved and caused a scene by throwing a drink on the reality starlet. Scott Disick, the father of Kourtney’s baby, Mason, pushed the creep away from their table. “Then it escalated, and the guy took Scott’s handkerchief and threw it in his face,” our spy said. “They shoved each other and punches were thrown.” While security swarmed the scene to break up the fight, the interloper called Kourtney a slut, to which Disick screamed back, “She’s the mother of my child!” Both men were escorted out and sisters Kim, Kourtney and Khloe left separately in a black SUV.

Groupon Goes After the Dating Market

Groupon doesn’t just want to help you find a bargain. Now, the popular deal-of-the-day site wants to help you find a date — and maybe send your kids to college.

Groupon, the popular daily coupon service that gets sent to consumers worldwide, this week announced itsGrouspawn Award(Grouspawn = group + spawn). This college scholarship will be awarded twice annually to children born of parents who used a Groupon on their first date. According to spokeswoman Julie Mossler, the scholarship will be in the neighborhood of $60,000.

To qualify, couples have to apply at the Grouspawn website and offer their story to a screening committee, which will interview friends and family members to prove that the couple’s first date really did involve the use of a Groupon.

And to help you find that first date, Groupon also just launched a free dating service, which so far appears to have attracted just a handful of people.

The news comes on the heels of Rob Solomon, Groupon’s president and COO, telling an audience on September 29 at a Shop.org conference in Dallas that the company will continue chasing deals with national retailers as it recently did with Gap, which brought in an estimated $11 million and temporarily crashed its site.
